Jacob H. Jennings is a lifelong resident of Lee County. He is a graduate of Wofford College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is married to the former Jane Marie Hancock and has two children.
Mr. Jennings has been a practicing attorney since 1953, when he joined his father in the practice of law. He served as President of the South Carolina Bar in 1984-1985 and President of the South Carolina Bar Foundation in 1989-1990. He is the only Bishopville native that has served as the President of the SC Bar.
Mr. Jennings is admitted to practice before all South Carolina Courts and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Jennings was elected to the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1983. The College is composed of preeminent members of the Trial Bar from the United States and Canada and is recognized as the leading trial lawyers organization in both countries. Jennings was awarded the Platinum Compleat Lawyer Award given by the USC School of Law for excellence in the practice of law in 1998.
He served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1960-1962, as the town attorney for Bishopville from 1980 until 2015 and served as attorney for the Lee County Board of Education for many years. He served in and retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a lieutenant colonel.
